A Low Cost Ultra-bright LED kit.

If you love LEDs, and who doesn’t, you sometimes want the brightest you can find. For less than $2, you can purchase this assortment of 100 ultra-bright LEDs in five colors, from AliExpress.

Each of these LEDS has a clear, untinted plastic dome. This is very common for ultra bright LEDs. The good news is the dome lets out all the light. The bad news is, each colored LED looks the same until you turn it on.

Each color is shipped in a bag that has a color dot on it, so as long as you keep them in their own bag, you can keep track of the colors.

The red and yellow LEDs have a 2 V forward voltage drop (FVD), while the green, blue and white have a 2.9 V FVD, each at 20 mA. I estimate they are 1000-2000 mcd in brightness at 10 mA of current.

Even with 10 mA current, they are too bright to look at with the naked eye. They will leave a lasting afterimage.

As with all LEDs, the long lead is the more positive, the short lead is the more negative.

They work great just plugged into the Arduino directly, if done correctly.

For this price, they are a great value.
